BessyConnect Is Now on Android TV — a VPN Right on Your Television

Good news for everyone who watches on the big screen: BessyConnect now has a dedicated app for Android TV. The VPN runs directly on your television — no routers, no tethering from your phone, no workarounds. Install the app, sign in, pick a country with your remote, and all of the TV's traffic goes through a secure connection.

Why this matters

Setting up a VPN on a TV used to be genuinely hard. You either had to run a VPN on your router — not something everyone can pull off — or tether the connection from a phone, which is clumsy and unreliable. Meanwhile the smart TV stayed the leakiest device in the house: its apps talk to the network directly, with no protection at all.

That changes now. The native BessyConnect app for Android TV installs straight onto your television from Google Play and is driven with the ordinary remote. No computers, no manual configs, no fiddling — turn it on and you're covered. It's the exact same service you use on your phone, just built for the big screen.

What the Android TV app can do

It's the same BessyConnect you know, adapted for a remote and a large display:

  • VLESS + Reality (XTLS) protocol. The traffic is indistinguishable from ordinary HTTPS, so the connection resists DPI and works where older protocols like PPTP, L2TP or OpenVPN are already blocked.
  • More than 100 servers in 15 countries. Choosing a country takes a couple of clicks on the remote, automatically or by hand, and switching takes a couple of seconds.
  • One account across every device. Sign in with Apple, Google or email — the same account you use on your phone works on the TV right away. No separate registration needed.
  • Unlimited traffic and no activity logs. Watch as much as you like; your connection history isn't collected.

Why you'd want a VPN on your TV

A few clear scenarios:

  • Geo-restricted content. Some streaming catalogs and standalone apps aren't available in every region. With a VPN on your smart TV you pick the country you need and open up more to watch — straight from the couch.
  • Smart-home privacy. Your television is part of your home network. A VPN for your TV hides your real IP and encrypts the traffic, cutting down on the data that leaks out without your say-so.
  • Streaming without limits. Stable servers and unlimited traffic are exactly what high-quality video needs — no constant buffering or drops.

Which devices it works on

The app is built for the Android TV / Google TV ecosystem:

  • Android TV and Google TV televisions;
  • TV boxes — Nvidia Shield, Xiaomi (Mi Box) and similar Android TV devices.

An honest note on what isn't here yet: Samsung Tizen and LG webOS TVs have no dedicated app — that's a different operating system. You still have two working paths: set up BessyConnect on your router (protection then reaches every device at home, that TV included), or plug in an inexpensive Android TV box and install the app on that.

How to get started

It takes a couple of minutes:

  1. Open Google Play right on the TV and search for BessyConnect — or follow the Android TV link.
  2. Install the app and sign in with Apple, Google or email. If you already have an account on your phone, just use that one.
  3. Pick a country with the remote and press "Connect."

That's it — your television is protected by BessyConnect.
