Incy VPN key: what it is, where it comes from and how to add it

A key for Incy is a link to someone else's server or your own: a string of the form vless://… or a subscription address https://… from which the app downloads a list of servers. Incy itself contains no keys and no servers. On its App Store page the developer writes: "INCY does not provide servers and does not impose infrastructure"; on Google Play, "does not provide servers or network services" (both pages as of October 13, 2026). So a "free Incy key" always means access to a third party's server. Below: where keys come from, how to add a key to the app, how to check it and how the sources differ.

What is a key for Incy VPN?

A key is a single string with the server address, a user identifier and the connection parameters. Incy reads it and creates the entry in the server list by itself; nothing has to be filled in by hand.

The Incy documentation gives the format for the most common case as vless://uuid@host:port?params#name. Besides VLESS, the app accepts vmess://, trojan://, ss://, hysteria2://, socks://, wireguard:// and amneziawg:// links. The app recognizes the ssr://, tuic:// and hysteria:// schemes but skips such servers. If you were given a key in one of those three formats, it won't work in Incy.

The second kind of key is a subscription link. It is an ordinary https://… address with a list of servers behind it: in base64 or in plain text, one link per line. What each part of a vless:// string means is covered in detail in the article VPN key; here we talk only about Incy.

If you need a key not for the sake of Incy itself but so that a VPN simply works, we recommend BessyConnect: it is an app with its own servers, and you don't need to look for a key for it.

Does Incy have free servers?

No. Incy has no built-in servers, neither free nor paid: after installation the list is empty until you add a key or a subscription.

What is free is the app itself. The developer, LLC ITDEV, describes it as a tool "for engineers and administrators" who need to connect "to their own servers". The project's site says the same more briefly: "Open core. Your servers. All devices". The query "incy vpn сервера бесплатные" (Incy VPN free servers) appears because many small services hand the buyer a key and ask them to install Incy, and the name of the client sticks as the name of the VPN. What the app can do and which devices it runs on is covered in the Incy review.

Where do you get a key for Incy?

There are three sources: your own server, a paid service and a public giveaway. They differ not in price but in who owns the server and how many people use the same address.

Key sourcePriceStabilityWho sees the traffic
Your own server on a rented VPSServer rental from a hosting providerDepends on you: only you use the address, but the maintenance is on you tooYou and the hosting provider the server is rented from
A paid service that issues a key or subscriptionAccording to the service's planUsually higher: a subscription has several servers, and the list is updatedThe service you pay
A public giveaway of free keys0 ₽Low: hundreds of people share one addressAn unknown server owner

Your own server gives you full control but requires setup and updates. How much time that costs and when it is justified is covered in the comparison your own VPN on a VPS or a ready-made service.

A paid service issues the key in your account, in a bot or by email. Check that what you get is a subscription link: with it the server list updates without your involvement.

Public giveaways are the simplest of all: someone publishes a key to their server for everyone. There will be no names or addresses of such giveaways here, but it is useful to understand how they work and why they break.

How do you add a key to Incy?

Copy the key and paste it into the app, scan a QR code or tap an incy:// link. All three methods are described by the developer: Google Play lists "import of configurations via links or QR codes", the site lists "import via link, QR code and deep link".

The steps for a phone:

  1. Install Incy from the App Store or Google Play. As of October 13, 2026, the iPhone version is 2.6.2 of September 21, and the Android build on the project's releases page is 3.7.0 of October 6.
  2. Copy the vless://… key or the subscription address in full, without spaces or line breaks.
  3. Open Incy and add the configuration from the clipboard. The documentation calls this action "Paste"; it also mentions import from a file.
  4. If the service shows a QR code, choose scanning in the app and point the camera at it.
  5. If the service's site has a button with a link of the form incy://import/… or incy://add/…, tap it: the app will open and offer the import.
  6. Choose a server in the list and turn on the connection. On first launch the system will ask for permission to create a VPN configuration.

On a TV you won't have to enter a long string with the remote. According to the Incy documentation, Apple TV or Android TV shows an eight-character code and a QR code, you enter the code in the app on your phone, and the subscription is transferred in encrypted form.

Installation on a computer differs only in the first step; it is described in the guide Incy on a PC.

Why do free keys for Incy stop working?

There are four reasons: the server address has been blocked, the server is overloaded, the owner deleted the key or a device limit kicked in. None of them can be fixed with Incy's settings.

  • Address blocking. A published key is visible to everyone, including those who compile block lists. An address that hundreds of connections go to at once gets noticed faster than a private one.
  • Overload. The server's bandwidth is divided among everyone who pasted the same key. In the evening the speed drops, then the connection stops being established.
  • The key is deleted. The owner can disable the identifier at any moment. The Incy documentation describes how this looks from the app's side: on a 404 or 410 server response the subscription is considered deleted by the provider, and the client no longer tries the fallback addresses.
  • Device limit. Incy can pass the subscription server a hardware device identifier, the HWID. The documentation states its purpose directly: "binding subscriptions to specific devices". If the owner has turned on a limit, the key works for the first users and refuses the rest.

This also answers the question of why a key worked yesterday and doesn't work today: it is not the key that changed but the state of the server.

How do you check a key for Incy?

The check goes in five steps: format, loading, expiry and traffic, ping, a real connection. It takes a couple of minutes.

  1. Format. The string must start with a supported scheme (vless://, vmess://, trojan://, ss://, hysteria2://, wireguard://) or be an https:// address. The app won't parse a key that was cut off when copying.
  2. Loading. After adding, at least one server must appear in the list. An empty list for a subscription means it didn't download or has been deleted.
  3. Expiry and traffic. If the service passes this data, Incy shows a traffic block on the main screen. In the documentation this is the subscription-userinfo header: it carries the amount used, the total limit and the access end date expire.
  4. Ping. Incy can sort servers by ping, so the fastest come first. A server that doesn't respond can't be connected to.
  5. Connection. Turn on the connection and make sure your external address has changed. How to do that is described in the article how to check that a VPN is working.

If a key passes the first two steps and fails the last, the problem is the server. You need to write to whoever issued the key, not to the Incy developer.

What does a user of public keys risk?

The main risk is that all your traffic goes through a stranger's server. They see your IP address, the times of your connections, the volume of data and the addresses of the sites you access. The content of pages opened over HTTPS is not available to them.

A subscription in Incy has two more features that are rarely written about.

First: every time the subscription is updated, the app sends its server service headers. According to the Incy documentation, these are the app version, the platform and the device language. If HWID sending is on, the device identifier, the system version and the model are added. A provider can make HWID sending mandatory for its subscription, and then the user can't turn it off.

Second: a subscription is not only a list of servers. Its body, according to the same documentation, can carry a routing profile and announcement text that Incy will show as a banner on the main screen. In other words, the author of a subscription can send not only addresses but also the rules by which traffic is split between the tunnel and a direct connection.

For your own server and for a service with a known owner these are ordinary working features. With an anonymous giveaway you hand the same information to a person you know nothing about. That is why you shouldn't log in to your bank, email or work systems through a public key.

Why we recommend BessyConnect

To those who are looking for a key for Incy in order to get a working VPN, we recommend BessyConnect: it is a ready-made app with its own servers, and you don't need to look for a key for it. You install it and connect; the server list is already inside.

The reasons are these:

  • No key needed. There is no string that can be deleted and no giveaway that will end tomorrow.
  • You know whose server it is. One service is responsible for both the servers and the app, and no logs are kept.
  • Addresses to spare. There are more than 100 servers, so there is plenty to choose from if one address is overloaded.
  • Camouflage. The VLESS protocol with Reality: the traffic looks like ordinary HTTPS.
  • You can try it. Registration is not required, and there is a trial period.

The apps are released for iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV, Android and Android TV:

Now the limits. Incy is stronger as a universal client: it runs on Windows and Linux, where there is no BessyConnect app, and supports eight protocols instead of one. Those who already have their own server and a working key don't need a separate service: the "own VPS plus Incy" combination covers the same task.

There are other things BessyConnect doesn't solve either. The app isn't in the Russian App Store; to install it on an iPhone you need an Apple ID from another country. When mobile internet is switched off, no VPN will connect. And a ready-made service doesn't remove the question of trust: you are choosing whom to trust with your traffic, not getting rid of the intermediary. How Incy looks next to another popular client is shown in the comparison Incy or Happ.

The bottom line is simple. If you have your own server and a working key, stay with Incy. But if you are hunting for a new free key every week, we recommend installing BessyConnect instead: the apps for all platforms are gathered on the download page.

Frequently asked questions

Where can I get a key for Incy VPN for free? Free keys are published by server owners in open giveaways; Incy itself doesn't issue keys. Hundreds of people share such a key, so it is unstable, and the server owner sees the addresses of the sites you open.

What is an access key in Incy? It is a link to a server of the form vless://uuid@host:port?params#name or a subscription address https://… with a list of servers. The app parses it by itself after you paste it from the clipboard or scan a QR code.

Why isn't my key for Incy working? Most often the server is blocked by address, overloaded, or the owner has deleted the key. If the subscription is bound to devices by HWID, it may not work on a new phone.

Can I add several keys to Incy? Yes, the app is designed for several subscriptions: according to the documentation, on iOS and Android each subscription has its own sorting and ping settings. Servers from different sources can be kept side by side.

Do I need a key for BessyConnect? No. BessyConnect is an app with its own servers: the list is already inside, and there is no need to add a key or a subscription. It is what we recommend to those who don't want to hunt for keys; there is no app for Windows.
