Karing VPN («Каринг ВПН») is Karing, a free client for connecting with keys and subscriptions, not a VPN service: it has no servers of its own. The app runs on iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV, Android, Windows and Linux, is built on the sing-box core, and its source code is open on GitHub under the GPLv3 license. For Karing to start working, you need to add a subscription to it from a service that sells or gives away access to servers. The data was checked on October 27, 2026.
If you don't want a separate key and would like an app that connects on its own, we recommend BessyConnect: it has its own servers on VLESS with Reality camouflage.
Karing is a graphical shell for sing-box written in Flutter. The KaringX/karing repository was created on GitHub on November 6, 2023, the project has more than 15 thousand stars, and in the App Store the app is published by Supernova Nebula LLC (the first version came out on December 26, 2023).
The server list comes from the link you paste in. To the question "what to do if there's no configuration", the FAQ on karing.app answers: look for it from third-party providers. So "Karing VPN" is usually the client's name that subscription buyers remembered, not a service brand. The same story goes for Happ, which has its own review of Happ VPN.

Karing doesn't belong to the one-button "people's VPNs" like Tik or Ded: it has more settings, and without a subscription it does nothing. How such apps differ is covered in the review of people's VPNs.
Karing is free on all platforms, as stated in the FAQ and the quick start on karing.app. You pay not Karing but whoever gave you the subscription: a service in a Telegram bot, on a website, or the server owner.
The App Store listing has the "In-App Purchases" label; we didn't check what's behind them. You can download the client and connect without paying.
There is no "pay for VPN" button in Karing. If a service sent you a link with the instruction "install Karing", renew the subscription where you bought it. If you installed "Karing VPN" from Google Play, that is a different app, more on it below.
The "node exchange" and "bonuses for new users" sections on karing.app lead to third-party providers, and Karing isn't responsible for their servers. What you risk by taking free keys from public giveaways is covered in the article a VLESS key for a VPN.
There are two official sources: the App Store for Apple devices and the Releases section of the KaringX/karing repository on GitHub for other systems. That's what the developer's FAQ says. Links to the same files are on karing.app/download, and for Android APKPure and the Amazon Appstore are also listed.
| Platform | Where to get it | Requirements |
|---|---|---|
| iPhone, iPad | App Store or the TestFlight beta | iOS 15 or later |
| Mac | App Store or .dmg/.pkg from GitHub | macOS 12 or later |
| Apple TV | App Store | tvOS 17 or later |
| Android | .apk from GitHub (arm64-v8a, armeabi-v7a, arm) | Android 8 or later |
| Android TV | A separate armeabi-v7a build on karing.app/download | — |
| Windows | .exe or .zip from GitHub | Windows 10, 64-bit only |
| Linux | .deb, .rpm, AppImage from GitHub | 64-bit |
Karing is available in the Russian App Store: on October 27, 2026, the page opens, with a rating of 4.0 from 353 ratings. For comparison, the Happ and Hiddify pages in the Russian storefront returned a 404 error on the same day. The App Store and TestFlight versions can't be installed at the same time, the site warns.
How popular the client is can be seen from the GitHub counters. The files of the stable version 1.2.25.2802 alone had been downloaded about 1.5 million times by October 27, 2026: the Windows installer 513 thousand times, the arm64-v8a APK 502 thousand. These are file downloads, including updates, not the number of people.
According to the developer's FAQ, on Xiaomi phones the installer may call the APK dangerous (Karing ended up on Xiaomi's blacklist), and Windows Defender may stop the installation. Before allowing anything, make sure the file was downloaded from the KaringX repository.
The original Karing can be verified: the code is open, and the Apple builds pass App Store review. But your traffic is seen by the owner of the server in the subscription, not by Karing, and the client isn't responsible for their honesty. The main risk is installing a namesake instead of the original.
In the App Store, Supernova Nebula LLC stated that it may collect data not linked to your identity: usage data, diagnostics and crashes. The listing has no "Data Used to Track You" or "Data Linked to You" sections. The GPLv3 license allows anyone to build their own version from the code, so a build from a random site can't be trusted.
The original Karing isn't on Google Play; the developer says so plainly in the FAQ: "Karing is not listed on Google Play". At the same time, as of October 27, 2026, there is an app called "Karing VPN" (karingvpn.app) there. Its publisher is VPN V2RAY, the listing names the legal entity D-8392 OOO with an address in the Kirov Region, 500+ downloads, updated on October 20, 2026. It is a VPN with a "Start" button, not a subscription client. In "Data safety" the developer noted that the app may share device identifiers with third parties. The same account publishes Cola VPN, «Манго ВПН» (Mango VPN), «Щука ВПН» (Shchuka VPN) and "INCY VPN". This program has nothing to do with KaringX.
How to check that you have the original:
Signs of fake clients in general are collected in the article how to spot a fake VPN app.
A subscription is added with a link: settings, "Add configuration", "Add configuration link", paste the address. After that Karing will choose a server itself. The steps below are taken from the official quick start on karing.app.
vless://…, a Clash, sing-box or Shadowsocks configuration). On Apple TV you don't need to enter the subscription separately. Open Karing on the TV, scan its QR code with mobile Karing that already has the subscription added, and tap "Upload" to transfer the configuration.
The client has ready-made routing rules for beginners, and on Android you can choose which apps go through the tunnel.
Most often the problem isn't the client but the subscription: the link doesn't open, the service rejected it, or the servers are blocked on your network. Start by updating Karing to the latest version, as the developer itself advises, then match the error against the table.
| Message in Karing | What it means according to the developer's FAQ | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Connection reset by peer, Connection refused | The request to the subscription address is blocked | Retry when you have another working connection |
| http statusCode: 404 | There is no subscription at this link | Get a new link from the service or change the UserAgent |
| http statusCode: 403 | The service rejected the request | Ask the service for a different link |
| Failed host lookup | The subscription domain couldn't be found | Retry over another connection or DNS |
| http response is empty | The service returned an empty response | Change the link or the UserAgent |
| No server available | The servers weren't recognized | If the link works in another client, change the UserAgent |
If the subscription loaded but the connection keeps dropping, check the special cases from the same FAQ:
Keep the version difference in mind: as of October 27, 2026, the App Store has 1.2.25.2802, while GitHub already has the beta 1.2.26.2915 from the same day. If a fix came out only in the beta, on iPhone you can get it through TestFlight. When nothing helps, the carrier's network is probably blocking the server itself, and only the subscription owner can solve that. General causes are covered in the article why a VPN isn't working.
Karing is replaced with another key client if you don't like the interface, or with an app that has its own servers if you're tired of looking for a subscription. The comparison below is based on App Store listings, GitHub and the developers' sites as of October 27, 2026.
| Karing | Happ | Hiddify | BessyConnect | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| What it is | A subscription client | A subscription client | A subscription client | A VPN service with an app |
| Own servers | No | No | No | Yes, more than 100 |
| Key required | Yes | Yes | Yes | No |
| Open source | Yes, GPLv3 | Not checked | Yes, GPLv3 with extra terms | No |
| Russian App Store | Yes | No (404) | No (404) | No |
| Windows and Linux | Yes | Not checked | Not checked | No |
| Cost | Free, you pay for the subscription | Free, you pay for the subscription | Free, you pay for the subscription | There is a trial period |
Where Karing is stronger than BessyConnect: it is free, open source, available in the Russian App Store and works on Windows and Linux. Where it is weaker: without someone else's subscription it is useless, and server quality depends on a provider that Karing doesn't vet. The difference between key clients is covered in more detail in the comparison v2rayTun, Hiddify and Streisand.
We recommend BessyConnect to those who are looking not for a client but for a working connection. You don't need to look for a key: the servers are its own, there are more than a hundred of them, and they run on VLESS with Reality camouflage, which makes traffic look like an ordinary HTTPS connection. No logs are kept, registration isn't required, and there is a trial period.
BessyConnect apps:
The honest limitations. BessyConnect has no apps for Windows and Linux, and you can't import other services' keys into it: if you already have a paid subscription to another service, stay with Karing. BessyConnect isn't in the Russian App Store; installing it on an iPhone requires an Apple ID from another country. And when mobile internet is shut off under whitelists, neither BessyConnect, nor Karing, nor any other VPN helps.
If Karing works for you and you're happy with your subscription, there's nothing to change. But if you're tired of hunting for keys and dealing with subscription errors, try BessyConnect: all versions are gathered on the download page.
Is Karing VPN a VPN or an app for keys? It is an app for keys and subscriptions. Karing has no servers of its own, and without an added subscription it doesn't connect.
Where can I download Karing for PC? In the Releases section of the KaringX/karing repository on GitHub or on karing.app/download. For Windows there is an .exe installer and a .zip archive (Windows 10, 64-bit), for Mac a .dmg and .pkg, for Linux .deb, .rpm and AppImage.
Why doesn't Karing VPN from Google Play look like the one on GitHub? It is a different app. Karing from KaringX isn't published on Google Play, and the "Karing VPN" there is released by the developer VPN V2RAY: it is a VPN with a "Start" button, not a subscription client.
What should I do if Karing shows an error when adding a subscription? Update the app and check the error text: 404 and 403 mean a problem with the link on the provider's side, Connection reset and Failed host lookup mean the subscription address is unreachable on your network. If the link works in another client, change the UserAgent.
What can replace Karing VPN if I don't want to look for keys? An app with its own servers, such as BessyConnect: it runs on VLESS with Reality camouflage, and registration isn't required. But it has no Windows version, while Karing works on Windows.
