Nova VPN (in Russian, «Нова ВПН») isn't one service but a name under which, as of October 26, 2026, at least three Russian-language VPN services and seven Google Play apps from different developers exist. Among the Russian-language Novas, only NovaVPN with the site novavpn.tech has its own app on both Google Play and the App Store: a free plan with ads and Premium for 199 rubles a month. The publisher in the app stores is the American company Calm Reliever LLC. Below we explain how to tell this version from its namesakes, what is known about prices and data, and what to do if Nova won't connect.
We found at least three Russian-language services named Nova, and no connection between them is stated anywhere. Another seven apps with Nova and VPN in the name on Google Play were made by developers from Italy, Morocco, Malta, the US, Brazil, Uzbekistan and Indonesia. There are no VPNs with this name on RuStore.
We checked all the variants directly on October 26, 2026.
| What it is | How it works | Price as of 26.10.2026 |
|---|---|---|
| NovaVPN, site novavpn.tech | Its own app on Google Play and the App Store, publisher Calm Reliever LLC | Free with ads, Premium 199 ₽ a month |
| NOVA VPN, site nova-vpn.ru, bot @novavpnru_bot | A subscription link for the Happ client, personal account on the site | From 45 to 179 ₽ for 30 days |
| NOVA VPN, bot @nova_vless_bot, channel @novavpntech | A subscription for Happ, INCY or v2RayTun, launched October 10, 2026 | From 99 ₽ a month, 3 days free |
| NovaVPN, site novavpn.com | An international service by DTSocialize LTD (Malta), on Google Play with 10K+ installs | Prices in dollars |
| "Nova vpn" with a Persian title | An app by the Italian developer Sol Sol App654472 | Free with ads |
The most downloaded app with this name in the Russian Google Play storefront is the last one in the table: 500K+ installs. But judging by its Persian title, it is aimed at users in Iran, not Russia. Another Nova VPN, from sonalim apps of Morocco, has 100K+.
The query is big: «нова впн» gets about 36 thousand impressions a month in Yandex Wordstat (September 25 — October 25, 2026). Judging by the suggestions, some of them are about Huawei Nova smartphones, not VPNs at all. Nova is part of the same wave of short-named apps as «Ток» (Tok), «Тик» (Tik) and «Дед» (Ded); a general checklist for them is in the review of people's VPNs.
If you need a service that names its protocol outright and doesn't require registration, we recommend BessyConnect: it runs on VLESS with Reality camouflage.
The official site of this version is novavpn.tech. On Google Play and in the App Store the publisher is listed as Calm Reliever LLC with an address in Sheridan, Wyoming (USA). The site itself doesn't name the legal entity; the footer only says "© 2026 NovaVPN".
The project is young: the domain novavpn.tech was registered on March 23, 2026, and the privacy policy and terms of use are dated the same day. The Telegram channel @novavpn_info was created on April 15, 2026, and as of October 26 it has 207 subscribers. In its first post the team writes that it has been on the CIS VPN market for 8 years, but doesn't say under what name, and this claim can't be verified from open sources.
Signs of the genuine app:
Everything else is a different product or a copy. What you risk by installing an APK from an unknown site is covered in the article on how to recognize a fake VPN app.
NovaVPN has a free plan with no time limit: you pay for access by watching ads. Ads were added to the iPhone version in update 1.0.3 of July 29, 2026. Ad-free Premium costs 199 rubles a month.
| Period | Price on novavpn.tech | Per month |
|---|---|---|
| 1 month | 199 ₽ | 199 ₽ |
| 6 months | 949 ₽ | 158 ₽ |
| 1 year | 1,799 ₽ | 150 ₽ |
Each of these plans is for one device; a different term and number of devices can be put together in the personal account. Payment is by card, through SBP, in USDT, and for Turkmenistan in manats through support. With a referral link, a friend gets 7 days of Premium and a 30% discount, that is, a month for 139 rubles (channel post of September 7, 2026).
The two Novas that work through Happ have a different model: their pages show no permanent free plan. On nova-vpn.ru, with the current 10% discount, the cheapest option is 45 rubles for 30 days with a 25 GB limit on one device, and unlimited on five devices is 134 rubles. NOVA VPN from the bot @nova_vless_bot charges 99 rubles a month for three devices, and the first three days are free.
A NovaVPN subscription bought through the App Store or Google Play is cancelled in the store's settings. One bought on the site or in the bot is cancelled in the personal account at lk.novavpn.tech (it opens even without a VPN) or in the bot. The terms of use say plainly that cancelling stops renewal but, as a rule, doesn't refund the money for the current period.
On Android, NovaVPN has been on Google Play since May 1, 2026: 5K+ installs, a 3.9 rating from 21 reviews, last updated September 12, 2026. On the iPhone, the app came out on July 2, 2026, but it isn't in the Russian App Store. It opens in the US, Kazakh and Turkish stores, so you need an Apple ID from another country.
On a Mac, the iPhone version from the App Store works: you need a computer with an Apple M1 chip or later and macOS 12. We didn't find a separate Windows program on the site. Windows is mentioned only in the page's service markup, and there is no link to an installer. The "Nova VPN for PC" pages on catalog sites that turn up in search describe a different app, Nova VPN Master by Invoker Apps, and have nothing to do with novavpn.tech.
For the Novas on Happ the situation is the opposite: Happ exists for both Windows and macOS, so the subscription can be added on a computer too. How to do that and where to get the client itself is described in the review Happ: keys and setup.
If you need a VPN specifically on a Windows PC, we'll say it honestly: BessyConnect has no Windows app either.
Most often the cause is filtering on the carrier's network, an outdated app version or an expired subscription. What to do depends on which Nova you have.
For the NovaVPN app:
For the Novas on Happ the first step is different: open Happ and pull the server list down to update the subscription. That is exactly what the @novavpntech channel advised doing first on October 25, 2026, if sites won't open or a server doesn't respond. Then check the subscription term in the bot or personal account.
Google Play reviews as of October 26, 2026, include complaints about the app crashing and about needing an already working VPN to register. If none of the steps helped, the network is most likely recognizing the protocol itself. General diagnostics are in the article why a VPN isn't working. When mobile internet is restricted to whitelists, a plan like «БезГраниц + LTE» ("Without Limits + LTE") on nova-vpn.ru doesn't guarantee anything either; more in the analysis of whether a VPN helps when mobile internet is shut off.
NovaVPN's policy promises not to keep logs of visited sites, DNS queries or traffic content. But the free version shows ads through Google AdMob, and under the same policy advertising partners may receive device identifiers, IP address and approximate location.
The store listings describe data differently. On Google Play the developer stated that data isn't shared with third parties. In the App Store the same developer declared that identifiers may be used for tracking across other companies' apps and websites, and approximate location and device ID for third-party advertising. Perhaps this is down to the two stores' different questionnaires, but for a VPN it is a reason to keep ad tracking turned off in your phone's settings.
Legally the picture is uneven too: the company's address is in Wyoming, while the terms of use are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware. We found no independent audit of the service.
On nova-vpn.ru, the link to the user agreement leads to a template text signed "Platega": it says nothing about a VPN, the operator isn't named, and on October 26 the link to the privacy policy returned a 404 error.
If Nova has stopped connecting or the ads with tracking bother you, a sensible replacement is a service with an openly named protocol and a clear publisher. The comparison below is based only on facts from primary sources; where an alternative has the advantage, it says so.
| BessyConnect | NovaVPN | Planet VPN | TikVPN | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Protocol | VLESS with Reality camouflage | VLESS | OpenVPN, IKEv2, StarGuard | Proprietary, not disclosed |
| Free access | Trial period | Plan with ads | 6 servers in 5 countries | Plan with ads |
| Registration | Optional | Sign-in by email | Not needed | Email account for some features |
| Windows | No | We didn't find an installer | Yes | Yes |
| In the Russian App Store | No | No | No | No |
NovaVPN's and Planet VPN's data were checked on October 26, 2026, on their sites and in the stores; TikVPN's in our review of October 13, 2026, with TikVPN's Windows version rechecked on October 26.
Where the alternatives are stronger, to say it plainly. NovaVPN, Planet VPN and TikVPN have a permanent free mode; BessyConnect has only a trial period. Planet VPN and TikVPN have a Windows program. A broader comparison is in the article BessyConnect and other VPNs, by the facts.
We recommend BessyConnect to those for whom it matters to understand what stands behind the "Connect" button. The protocol is named outright: VLESS with Reality camouflage, under which traffic looks like an ordinary HTTPS connection. There are more than a hundred servers, no logs are kept, registration is optional, and there is a trial period.
BessyConnect apps:
What BessyConnect and any other VPN don't solve. When mobile internet is restricted to whitelists, a VPN as a rule doesn't help. BessyConnect has no Windows app. And it isn't in the Russian App Store, just like NovaVPN: on an iPhone you need an Apple ID from another country.
If your Nova connects and the ads don't bother you, there is no reason to switch. If it has stopped working or you still can't tell which of the Novas you have installed, try BessyConnect: all versions are gathered on the download page.
Is Nova VPN free? The NovaVPN app from novavpn.tech can be used for free with ads; Premium costs 199 rubles a month and less if paid for a year. The Novas that work through Happ show no permanent free plan on their pages.
Where is the official Nova VPN site? For the NovaVPN app from Calm Reliever LLC it is novavpn.tech, and the personal account is at lk.novavpn.tech. The sites nova-vpn.ru and novavpn.com belong to other services with a similar name.
Why isn't Nova VPN in the App Store? NovaVPN isn't in the Russian App Store, although it has been available in the US, Kazakh and Turkish stores since July 2, 2026. To install it on an iPhone you need an Apple ID from another country.
Can I download Nova VPN for PC? There is no separate NovaVPN program for Windows on the site; on a Mac with an M1 chip or later, the App Store version works. A Happ-based Nova subscription can be added to Happ for Windows.
What can I replace Nova VPN with? We recommend BessyConnect: VLESS with Reality camouflage, more than 100 servers, no logs and no mandatory registration. It has no permanent free plan and no Windows version, but there is a trial period.
