Lagom VPN (Лагом ВПН): what it is, whether it is free and why it isn't working

Lagom VPN (in Russian, «Лагом ВПН») is LagomVPN from LAGOM PRODUCTS LLC of Yerevan: the service started in 2023 as a free Telegram bot, and today it has a Google Play app with 10M+ downloads and a free limit of 5 GB a month. Since September 22, 2026, you can connect only through the Lagom Android app or the Happ client; on the iPhone, according to the team itself, its own app no longer works. Below is what we could verify from primary sources as of October 26, 2026, and what to do if Lagom has stopped connecting.

What is Lagom VPN and who is behind it?

LagomVPN is published by LAGOM PRODUCTS, LLC. The Google Play listing gives an address in Yerevan (3A Moskovyan St.), the email hello@lagomvpn.com and an Armenian phone number. The same seller is listed in the App Store.

The project's history can be traced through its Telegram channel @LagomVPN. The first post, on June 11, 2023, introduces a "free and minimalist VPN service without ads" set up through a bot. The domain lagomvpn.com was registered through REG.RU on June 15, 2023. In June 2024 the service moved from Outline to VLESS, and in the autumn of 2024 the team announced it was preparing a subscription but would keep the free plan.

How many apps are called Lagom VPN and which one is official?

LAGOM PRODUCTS has two official apps, and several namesakes, judging by their listings, don't belong to the company. A check on October 26, 2026:

• «Lagom: быстрый VPN» (Lagom: fast VPN) on Google Play (package com.lagomproductsllc.lagomvpn) — the main app. Its reviews have separate tabs for phone, tablet and TV.
• Lagom Client on Google Play — the same publisher, 5K+ downloads. It is only a client for a ready-made key: the description says outright that it doesn't sell subscriptions or issue keys.
• «LagomVPN — VPN без рекламы» (LagomVPN — VPN without ads) in the App Store (id 6670336253) — the iPhone app.
• The "Lagom VPN" extension in the Chrome Web Store — 261 users, version 1.0.0. The developer is listed with a gmail.com address, not one on the lagomvpn.com domain. The listing shows no connection to LAGOM PRODUCTS.
• The channels @lagom_vpn and @lagomvpnbot on Telegram — 11 and 54 subscribers. The official bot and the support bot link only to @LagomVPN and @LagomSupport_bot.

Authenticity is easy to check: the publisher Lagom Products, the site lagomvpn.com and an email on that domain. APK files from catalogs and "Lagom" from unrelated bots don't meet these signs. Is Lagom VPN free or paid?

Both. The App Store description names the free limit outright: 5 GB a month, renewed automatically. Google Play mentions a "free plan with a renewable limit" without a figure, and extra traffic and features are part of the paid Pro.

We couldn't verify Pro prices. On lagomvpn.com, as of October 26, 2026, every address, including the home page, redirected to the privacy policy page and an email sign-in form. Google Play shows the "In-app purchases" label without amounts. In the App Store the app has no in-app purchases section. Plans are shown inside the app and in the bot.

From what the team itself has reported: in April 2026 the channel wrote that the subscription could be paid with Telegram Stars. In Google Play reviews from September 2026, several paying users complain that they were required to link a bank card to renew. If you don't want to pay, keep in mind that the free limit is monthly: 5 GB for the whole month, not per day.

How do you download Lagom VPN on Android and iPhone?

On Android there is one official source, Google Play, and the app is available in the Russian storefront too. A RuStore search on October 26, 2026, returned no Lagom app. APKs from APKMirror and similar catalogs are mirrors with no guarantee of authenticity; it is better not to install them.

The iPhone is more complicated:

1. The app isn't in the Russian App Store: a query to Apple's catalog for country RU returns zero results. It is available in the storefronts of Kazakhstan, Belarus, Armenia, Georgia, Uzbekistan, Turkey and Germany.
2. The last iPhone update came out on February 4, 2026; the Android version has been updated many times since.
3. On September 23, 2026, the team wrote in the channel: "If you have iOS: only Happ works". So on an iPhone you now need Happ and a key from the bot @LagomVPN_bot, and Happ itself, according to the same team, isn't available in the Russian App Store.

Can you download Lagom VPN for PC?

There is no separate Lagom program for Windows. On a computer the service has always worked through third-party clients: in 2024 the channel recommended Hiddify, later FlClash. Since September 22, 2026, Lagom supports only Happ; the other clients, according to the team, have stopped working.

The working setup for a PC:

1. Install Happ for Windows or macOS from the official site or the GitHub releases page. Where to get the right file is covered in the guide Happ on PC.
2. Open the bot @LagomVPN_bot, press «Установить VPN» ("Install VPN") and choose your device.
3. Copy the key and add it to Happ.

On a Mac with an M1 chip or later, the App Store formally lets you install the Lagom iPhone app, but with the label "Not Verified for macOS". It is the same iOS version about which the team writes that only Happ works now. Android emulators like BlueStacks let you run the app from Google Play, but that is an extra layer: the developer doesn't promise the VPN will work inside an emulator, and emulator builds from unofficial sites are a risk in themselves.

Why isn't Lagom VPN working and what should you do?

The main cause in autumn 2026 is the change in how you connect. On September 22 the team announced that "because of new blocking" connection is possible only through the Lagom Android app and Happ, and the old keys, according to the team's announcement, stopped working the next day. Anyone who didn't update was left without a connection.

Steps to check:

1. Update the app. On Android you now sign in via Telegram; no key is needed.
2. Replace the key in Happ. The new key is issued by @LagomVPN_bot; the team disabled the old one on September 24.
3. Check the client. The team no longer supports Hiddify, FlClash or any other third-party clients except Happ.
4. Change networks. The team itself warned that the connection may be unstable on Beeline mobile internet.
5. Check the @LagomVPN channel. On June 4, 2026, the service had an outage, and the team admitted it happened "because of our mistake".
6. Write to support at @LagomSupport_bot.

Reviews show that the problems aren't limited to those who didn't update. In the App Store, reviews saying "No longer works in the Russian Federation" and "doesn't work" were left on September 9, October 11 and October 14, 2026. In the VPN Status catalog (a third-party site with user voting), as of October 26, 19 of 41 votes marked it as "working". Is Lagom VPN safe and what data does it collect?

The store descriptions promise "no trackers or logs", but the company's own documents paint a more complicated picture. It is worth knowing about the discrepancy before paying.

• App Store: the label "Data Not Collected"; Apple doesn't verify it.
• Google Play, "Data safety": the app may share app activity, crash logs and device identifiers with third parties for analytics and app functionality. Data can't be deleted on request.
• Privacy policy on lagomvpn.com (in force since April 1, 2026): IP address temporarily, device model, session duration, the advertising identifiers IDFA and GAID, third-party SDKs, advertising platforms such as Meta, retargeting and personalized advertising. At the same time it says browsing history and traffic content are not stored.

A connection log and an advertising profile are different things, and formally one doesn't contradict the other. But the phrase "no trackers" sits poorly with advertising identifiers in the policy.
