Medved VPN (Медведь ВПН, Bear VPN): what it is, whether it's free and where to download it

Medved VPN («Медведь ВПН», "Bear VPN") is not one app but at least two different services with similar names. The first is BearVPN with the site bearvpn.com: free on phones with ads, with a paid Premium from 9.99 dollars a month. Its old Android version «Bear VPN - ВПН Медведь» (Bear VPN - VPN Medved) reached more than 10 million installs, but as of October 26, 2026, its Google Play listing doesn't open. The second is the Telegram bot «Медведь VPN» (Medved VPN, @MedvedVPNBot) with plans from 2 rubles a day per device. Below: what is known about each from primary sources, where to download them and why they stop working.

If you need a VPN with a named protocol and separate apps for phone and TV, we recommend BessyConnect: it runs on VLESS with Reality camouflage and doesn't require registration.

What is Medved VPN and who is behind it?

People searching for «медведь впн» ("medved vpn") are most likely looking for BearVPN: its Android version was called «Bear VPN - ВПН Медведь» and was the most widespread of the "bears", and in the App Store its icon shows a bear's paw. The company behind it is not named in the documents, and its versions in the stores are released under the names of different developers. Separately, there is the Telegram service "Medved VPN", whose legal entity is not named either, and it shares nothing with BearVPN except the name.

BearVPN. The site bearvpn.com was registered in 2019. On Google Play the app lived under the identifier com.bear.vpn.super.fast.unlimited.connect, and in the Russian storefront it was called «Bear VPN - ВПН Медведь». An archived copy of the listing from January 31, 2026, shows more than 10 million installs, a rating of 4.6 from 123 thousand reviews and a developer with an address in California. Now Google Play responds to this address with "Not found".

The Android button on bearvpn.com now leads to a different listing. In the Russian storefront it is called «Быстрый VPN: безопасный прокси» (Fast VPN: secure proxy), the developer is Fast Proxy Dev Lab, and the address in the "About the developer" section is in Indonesia. It has more than a million installs, a rating of 4.6, the "Contains ads" and "In-app purchases" labels, and the latest update on October 14, 2026. The description says the app is built on the sing-box core.

"Medved VPN" in Telegram. This is the bot @MedvedVPNBot, the news channel @vpnmedved and support @beerhelps. The site web.medved.app is a personal account on the open-source Bedolaga system for selling subscriptions, which works with the Remnawave panel based on Xray-core. The domain medved.app was registered on June 6, 2026. The bot doesn't publicly name the protocol it uses.

How many "bears" are there among VPNs and how not to mix them up?

Besides the two main services, the check on October 26, 2026, turned up namesakes. You can recognize the original BearVPN by the link from bearvpn.com, and the Telegram service by the bot @MedvedVPNBot, which is listed in its privacy policy.

  • The bot @medved_vpn_bot «🇷🇺-ip ВПН МЕДВЕДЬ» (🇷🇺-ip VPN MEDVED). This is a different product: it promises a Russian IP address for Gosuslugi, Sberbank and Kinopoisk, meaning it is for people living abroad. The descriptions of @MedvedVPNBot and the @vpnmedved channel don't link to it.
  • Empty channels @medved_vpn, @medvedvpn and @vpn_medved, each with one to ten subscribers.
  • «ВПН Зайчик» (VPN Zaychik) in the App Store from Benefit Virtue Technologies Limited. In its description it calls itself Bear VPN lite, but it has nothing to do with BearVPN or the Telegram bot: a different seller, its own site created in December 2025. The same seller also has "VPN - BearVPN", but it isn't in the Russian App Store.
  • CyBear VPN, BearLine VPN, Super Bear Proxy — separate apps from other companies. None of them can be found in the Russian App Store.
  • TunnelBear from Tunnelbear, LLC — an old VPN with a bear in its name, in the App Store since 2012. In the Russian Google Play storefront it is rated 2.1 from 326 thousand reviews.

Installing a copy with a similar name is risky; how to tell a fake is covered in the article on fake VPN apps. Medved belongs to the same wave of simple one-button services as Tik, Tok and Ded; a general checklist for them is collected in the review of people's VPNs.

Is Medved VPN free or paid?

BearVPN is free on Android and iPhone, but with ads and without server choice. The Telegram service "Medved VPN" is paid: from 2 rubles a day per device.

As of October 26, 2026, the bearvpn.com site lists the following Premium plans:

BearVPN planPriceRefund
1 month$9.99Within 7 days
12 months$29.99Within 30 days
24 months$39.99Within 30 days

Premium removes ads and unlocks a choice of "2000+ servers" and the Windows and macOS versions. Daily and weekly plans, according to the site's rules, are non-refundable. The free version works only on phones and connects to a random server.

For the Telegram service, the price is given in the bot's description, and payment goes through the bot and the web account. The user agreement says a refund is possible only if the service is completely inoperable through the administration's fault. Support at @beerhelps writes that a refund is requested with a button in the bot.

Medved VPN download: for Android, iPhone, PC and TV

The official Android version of BearVPN is now the one the bearvpn.com site links to, that is, «Быстрый VPN: безопасный прокси» on Google Play. There is no iPhone version in the Russian App Store. The Telegram service has no app of its own: the subscription is set up in the bot, and the public description doesn't say which client to connect with.

Android. The old «Bear VPN - ВПН Медведь» listing has been removed from Google Play, so APK files with its name, which people look for with the query «медведь впн апк» ("medved vpn apk"), are only on third-party sites. Nobody has checked the signature of such builds, and the risks of modified APKs are described in the article on VPN mod APK.

iPhone. The app "Bear VPN - Fast VPN Proxy" is in the US and Kazakhstan App Store, published by Free vpn app limited. In the Russian App Store it can't be found by a direct search; installing it requires an Apple ID from another country.

PC. The bearvpn.com site claims versions for Windows and macOS, but only for Premium; we didn't check the installers themselves. The MEmu emulator keeps a page "Bear VPN - ВПН Медведь for PC", but a VPN inside an emulator, as a rule, protects only the emulator's apps. Options for a computer are collected in the article on VPN for PC.

TV. The query «медведь впн тв» ("medved vpn tv") appears in Yandex suggestions, but we didn't find a separate Android TV version of BearVPN. The "Medved VPN" bot says it works "on all devices", without details. How to install a VPN on a set-top box is described in the guide on VPN for Android TV.

To get the right Android version of BearVPN:

  1. Open the bearvpn.com site and tap the download button for Android.
  2. Make sure Google Play opened the listing with the address com.cybear.vpn.proxy.connect.
  3. Don't install APKs from Telegram channels and file-sharing sites.

Why is Medved VPN not working or gone?

The old version of BearVPN "disappeared" because its listing was removed from Google Play: as of October 26, 2026, it returns a "Not found" error. Neither Google nor the developer has publicly given the reason. Those who still have the old version will no longer receive updates.

Reviews of the new Android version from September 2026 contain two typical complaints. The first: there is no manual server choice, and in the evenings the automatic mode connects to a server in the same country where the user is, so the VPN stops doing its job. The second: ads when you open and close the app. One reviewer notes that everything works better over Wi-Fi than over the mobile network.

For the Telegram service, the rules honestly warn that the administration may limit speed and traffic, and that some servers restrict torrents. Support asks you to resend your message if it hasn't been read within 12 hours.

What you can do yourself:

  1. Update the app if you installed it from Google Play rather than from an APK.
  2. Switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data: if it works on one network, the problem is the carrier.
  3. Turn off other VPNs and "Private DNS" in the Android settings.
  4. For the Telegram service, write to support at @beerhelps, stating your carrier and city.

If that didn't help, the carrier's network is probably recognizing the service's protocol. Other causes are collected in the article why a VPN isn't working.

Is Medved VPN safe?

Neither BearVPN nor the Telegram service names a legal entity in its documents, and we found no reports of an independent audit for either. Both services' statements about data should be read carefully.

In the "Data safety" section of BearVPN's new Android version, the developer stated that data is not collected and not shared with third parties. The privacy policy on bearvpn.com was last updated on June 10, 2024, and promises not to keep logs of visited sites and connections. At the same time, it acknowledges a unique identifier tied to the device code. There is no legal entity in it. The developer's address on Google Play was Californian for the old version and Indonesian for the new one.

The "Medved VPN" policy explicitly lists what the service may receive: Telegram ID, name and username, IP address, technical connection data, payment information, VPN usage data, and technical logs and diagnostics. The data, it says, is not sold, but may be shared with payment systems and when required by law. One more detail: in the account's technical settings the service is called «Маска Дали VPN» (Maska Dali VPN), which suggests the template was carried over from another project. The service runs an affiliate program paying 50% of the top-ups of invited users, so recommendations of "Medved" in other people's channels may be affiliate ones.

What can replace Medved VPN: alternatives

If BearVPN connects you to a server in your own country, or the Telegram bot's lack of a legal entity bothers you, choose a replacement based on the task. The table contains only what is confirmed by store listings and the services' sites as of October 26, 2026.

Where the competitors are stronger, to put it plainly. BearVPN can be used for free, and it claims a Windows version. "Medved VPN" is cheap and is set up right in Telegram. TunnelBear has the longest history and a named company: it has been in the App Store since 2012.

Why we recommend BessyConnect

We recommend BessyConnect to those for whom it matters to understand how a service works. The protocol is named openly: VLESS with Reality camouflage, which makes traffic look like an ordinary HTTPS connection. There are more than a hundred servers, no logs are kept, registration isn't required, and there is a trial period. For TVs there is a separate Android TV app and a version for Apple TV.

BessyConnect apps:

What neither BessyConnect nor any other VPN will solve. BessyConnect has no Windows app. It isn't in the Russian App Store either: installing it on an iPhone requires an Apple ID from another country. When mobile internet is shut off under whitelists, a VPN as a rule doesn't help. And BessyConnect isn't free like BearVPN: after the trial period it is paid.

If your "Bear" works reliably and suits you, there is no reason to switch. But if the old version has stopped updating, the app connects you to a server in your own country, or you need a VPN on your TV, try BessyConnect: all versions are gathered on the download page.

Frequently asked questions

Which app is Medved VPN? Most often this name refers to BearVPN from the bearvpn.com site; on Google Play it used to be called «Bear VPN - ВПН Медведь». There is also a separate Telegram service "Medved VPN" with the bot @MedvedVPNBot, which is a different product.

Is Medved VPN free? BearVPN is free on Android and iPhone, but it shows ads and chooses the server itself. Premium costs from 9.99 dollars a month, and the Telegram service "Medved VPN" from 2 rubles a day per device.

Why did Medved VPN disappear from Google Play? The old listing com.bear.vpn.super.fast.unlimited.connect was removed; as of October 26, 2026, it doesn't open, and no reason was announced. The bearvpn.com site now leads to the listing «Быстрый VPN: безопасный прокси».

Can I download Medved VPN for PC? The BearVPN site claims versions for Windows and macOS, but only in the paid Premium. Through an Android emulator the VPN, as a rule, works only inside the emulator, not for the whole computer.

What can replace Medved VPN? If you need a clear protocol and apps for phone and TV, BessyConnect on VLESS with Reality camouflage will do. Keep in mind that it is paid after the trial period and has no Windows app.
