Spid VPN and Spid Top VPN (SpeedTop VPN): what it is, how much it costs and how to download it

Spid VPN (in Russian, «Спид ВПН»), as people search for it in Russia, almost always means SpeedTop VPN: Fast & Secure. It is a free app with ads from the Singapore company SOON BODYWERKZ AUTO PTE. LTD., the same one that publishes JumpJumpVPN. It has more than 10 million installs on Google Play, it isn't in the Russian App Store, and the official site distributes the Windows version as an installer without a digital signature (data as of October 26, 2026). If you need a service with a named protocol and an app in the store, we recommend BessyConnect. Below is what can be verified about SpeedTop from primary sources.

What is Spid Top VPN and who is behind it?

SpeedTop VPN is published by SOON BODYWERKZ AUTO PTE. LTD. On Google Play the company lists an address in Singapore. The app appeared in the App Store on August 10, 2025, and the current version 1.2.0 came out on August 25, 2026. The Android version was last updated on September 24, 2026.

The legal side isn't entirely clear-cut. The footer of speedtop.io names a different company as the copyright holder, JIACHUANG SMOOTH LIMITED, with an address in Hong Kong's Tsim Sha Tsui district. The domain speedtop.io was registered on December 24, 2024. In the App Store description, the support email is on the forthvpn.com domain, and ForthVPN is another app from the same publisher.

The publisher's best-known app is JumpJumpVPN, with more than 100 million installs on Google Play. What is known about Jump Jump and neighboring free VPNs is collected in the review Turbo VPN, Super VPN and Jump Jump.

Are Spid VPN and Spid Top VPN the same app?

Yes, in the vast majority of cases. Yandex suggestions for «спид впн» consist almost entirely of variants like «спид топ впн скачать» ("spid top vpn download") and «спид топ впн на пк» ("spid top vpn for pc"), so people are looking specifically for SpeedTop. But other products live under similar names, and some of them have nothing to do with SpeedTop.

What a check on October 26, 2026, turned up:

• The speedtopvpn.mom site. It calls itself «SpeedTop VPN — Официальный сайт» (SpeedTop VPN — Official site), sells a subscription for 299 rubles a month and a three-day trial for 1 ruble. Its "Download" buttons lead to other people's clients, V2RayTun, Streisand and Hiddify, the "Connect" button leads to a Telegram bot called Speed Test bot, and an affiliate link opens a "Horizon VPS" page. speedtop.io doesn't link to it. We described the same scheme, with the same prices and the same bot, in the Tok VPN («Ток ВПН») review.
• Telegram. The channel @speedtop, titled «SpeedTop VPN — Подключение» (SpeedTop VPN — Connection), was created on June 19, 2026; it has 42 subscribers and a single link to another service's bot. There is also a bot @speedtopvpnbot, "SpeedTopVPN | Proxy". The official site doesn't list Telegram at all, only email.
• "Speed VPN" namesakes. Google Play has Speed VPN – Private Network from a Brazilian developer (10K+ installs), and the App Store has Speed VPN - Airplane V2Ray ВПН, Speed VPN 2026 and several more apps from different companies.

The genuine SpeedTop can be recognized by three signs: the publisher SOON BODYWERKZ AUTO PTE. LTD., the package io.speedtop.app on Google Play and the site speedtop.io in the listing. How to tell an original from a clone in general is covered in the article on fake VPN apps.

How much does SpeedTop VPN cost and is there a free mode?

There is a free mode: the listings in both stores carry notes about ads and in-app purchases, and the user agreement says outright that the free version may show ads. Paid access is sold through "premium cards", which appeared in version 1.2.0.

Prices in the store and on the site differ. Here is what was listed as of October 26, 2026:

According to the site, premium unlocks "10,000+ servers in 200+ countries and regions". This can't be verified from the outside. The 299-ruble plans have nothing to do with the official SpeedTop; that is the lookalike site from the previous section. Keep in mind, too, that the free mode is paid for by showing ads, and ads need a device identifier: more in the section on safety.

How do you download Spid Top VPN on Android, iPhone and PC?

On Android the app is available on Google Play. On iPhone and iPad, only with an Apple ID from another country: SpeedTop isn't in the Russian App Store, but it opens in the Kazakh, Belarusian, Turkish, Armenian and Georgian stores.

A computer is more complicated:

1. Windows. The button on speedtop.io downloads a file called speedtop.exe from an outside domain whose name has no connection to speedtop.io. It is the SpeedTop Desktop installer, 13.8 MB, with the file dated September 19, 2025. It has no digital signature, so Windows won't be able to show the publisher's name when you run it.
2. Mac. The macOS button on the site leads nowhere. However, the App Store says the iPhone version runs on a Mac with an Apple M1 chip or later and macOS 11.
3. Android emulators. Catalogs like MEmu offer to run the mobile version on a PC. It is a working but cumbersome option: the emulator itself requires trust.

Why isn't Spid Top VPN working and what should you do?

Most often the culprit is an overloaded free server, restrictions on the carrier's network or an outdated version. In Google Play reviews from August–October 2026, users write that the app takes a long time to connect, doesn't show the server list and reports that the server is full, especially on mobile internet.

Steps to check:

1. Choose another server manually instead of the automatic one.
2. Switch from mobile internet to Wi-Fi or vice versa. If it works on one network but not the other, the carrier is the cause.
3. Update the app from the store.
4. Check that you have the original with the publisher SOON BODYWERKZ, not a copy.
5. Turn off any second VPN and "Private DNS" in your phone's settings.
6. Write to support at support@speedtop.io.

If nothing helped, the carrier is most likely recognizing the protocol itself. The developer doesn't disclose which one SpeedTop uses, so its resistance to DPI can't be assessed. Other causes are covered in the article why a VPN isn't working.

Is SpeedTop VPN safe?

We found no independent audits of SpeedTop. At the same time, the developer's own declarations contradict each other, and it is worth knowing this before installing.

• Tracking. The App Store privacy section says the device identifier is linked to the user and is used for third-party advertising and analytics, as well as for tracking.
• Policy. The privacy policy of August 12, 2026, promises not to collect unique device identifiers. It also still contains an unfilled template fragment: instead of a response time for requests, it says "[insert response time…]".
• Google Play. The "Data safety" section states that data isn't shared with third parties, but that app activity history and device identifiers are collected, and that they can't be deleted.
• Size. The agreement calls the app "lighter than 10 MB", while in the App Store it weighs 119 MB.

A log of visited sites and an advertising identifier are different things, so a "no logs" promise may formally be kept. But sloppy documents and an unfamiliar domain for the Windows installer are a reason to be more careful.

What to replace Spid Top VPN with: alternatives

If SpeedTop has stopped connecting, it is worth replacing with a service that names its protocol. Below is a comparison based on what can be checked in store listings and documents (26.10.2026).

Where SpeedTop is stronger than BessyConnect, to say it plainly: it has a free mode and a Windows client, albeit an unsigned one. Turbo VPN has its own history: in August 2025, Citizen Lab reported a Shadowsocks password hard-coded into the apps of this family. TipTop and Turbo are the same kind of free apps with ads, and their protocols, OpenVPN, IKEv2, WireGuard and IPsec, aren't disguised as ordinary HTTPS, unlike VLESS with Reality.
