Tik VPN (in Russian, «Тик ВПН») is TikVPN, a freemium VPN service from Tapcom Technology Limited with apps for Android, iPhone, Windows, Mac and Fire TV. It has more than a million installs on Google Play, the free version shows ads, and a subscription in the US App Store costs from $3.99 a week (store data as of October 13, 2026). The service has nothing to do with TikTok, although the name and the description hint at it. Below we go through what is known about it from primary sources, where that information doesn't add up and what to check if the app has stopped connecting.
TikVPN has been operating since 2019: the first iPhone version came out on September 19, 2019, and the current one, 3.6.0, is dated August 6, 2026. The seller listed in the App Store is TAPCOM TECHNOLOGY LIMITED, the developer account is called Tap Connect Inc., and on Google Play the publisher is signed as TikVPN Anonymous Secure Privacy Team.
Three different names on two platforms is the first thing worth knowing about the service. The legal picture is uneven too. The privacy policy on tikvpn.com says the company is located in the British Virgin Islands, while the governing law clause of that same policy and the user agreement name the laws and courts of Hong Kong. The agreement was last updated on May 1, 2020.
| Parameter | What the primary sources say |
|---|---|
| Name in the stores | TikVPN-Безлимитный прокси ВПН ("Unlimited proxy VPN", Russian Google Play listing), TikVPN-Super Secure VPN Proxy (App Store) |
| Seller | TAPCOM TECHNOLOGY LIMITED, account Tap Connect Inc. |
| Site | tikvpn.com |
| Installs on Google Play | 1M+ |
| Last update | Android — July 27, 2026, iOS — August 6, 2026 |
| Payment model | Free with ads, VIP subscription |
| Protocol | Proprietary, name not disclosed |
| Jurisdiction | British Virgin Islands or Hong Kong, the documents disagree |
If you need a service where the protocol is named outright and you don't have to guess about the developer, we recommend BessyConnect: it runs on VLESS with Reality camouflage and doesn't require registration. Details are in the section below.
There is one verifiable product with this name: TikVPN from Tapcom. But it has namesakes alongside it, and some of them are unrelated to it.
What turned up when we checked on October 13, 2026:
The genuine app is identified by three signs: the publisher TikVPN Anonymous Secure Privacy Team on Google Play or Tap Connect Inc. in the App Store, a link to tikvpn.com on the store page, and a support email on the same domain. APK files from third-party sites and a "Tik VPN" from bots don't match these signs. What you risk by installing a copy is covered in the article on how to spot a fake VPN app.
TikVPN belongs to the same wave of simple one-button apps as Tok, Ded and Vanya. A common checklist for them is in the review of people's VPNs.
Downloading is free, but both store pages carry the labels "Contains ads" and "In-app purchases". In the iPhone description, free access is worded as "Free server + advanced", that is, free servers plus advanced ones by subscription.
As of October 13, 2026, the US App Store lists these purchases: Weekly VIP for $3.99, Monthly VIP for $9.99 and Yearly VIP for $47.99. The site promises a refund within 30 days, but the agreement specifies that this guarantee doesn't cover subscriptions taken out through the App Store; Apple handles those refunds.
The weekly subscription works out noticeably more expensive than the monthly one when converted to a month. If you sign up for a trial option, check right away in your account settings exactly which plan was activated. What you usually pay for "free" with is described in the comparison of free and paid VPNs.
On Android the app is available on Google Play. On iPhone it can only be installed with an Apple ID from another country: the Russian App Store has no TikVPN page, whereas in the stores of Kazakhstan, Belarus, Turkey and several other countries it opens.
The tikvpn.com site lists five platforms: iOS, Android, macOS, Windows and Amazon Fire TV. We didn't check whether the Windows installer exists or how it is signed, so download it only from the official site, not from software catalogs. The general rules for choosing a client for a computer are gathered in the article about VPN on a PC.
For Mac, the App Store lists compatibility of the iPhone app: you need a computer with an Apple M1 chip or later and macOS 11.
The protocol isn't named. The site speaks of a "proprietary patented protocol" and AES-256 encryption, but neither a name nor documentation has been published, so its resistance to DPI can't be assessed from the outside.
The picture with data is contradictory. The store description promises no logs. Yet in the "Data safety" section on Google Play the developer itself stated that the app may collect precise location and share it with third parties for advertising and marketing. The App Store states that device identifiers may be used to track you across other companies' apps and websites.
Formally one doesn't contradict the other: a connection log and an advertising profile are different things. But for a service that promises anonymity, passing geolocation to ad networks looks like a weak spot. According to a TechRadar review, the company hasn't commissioned an independent audit of its policy.
The figures about the network diverge as well. The site claims 2500+ servers in 70+ locations, while the Google Play description says "more than 40 locations".
The usual causes are an overloaded or unavailable server, restrictions on the carrier's network and an outdated version of the app. In the Russian Google Play storefront TikVPN's average rating is 2.5 out of 5, in the US one it is 4.3 (as of October 13, 2026): it looks as though the service behaves differently on different networks.
The order of checks:
If none of the steps helped, the carrier's network probably recognizes the protocol itself, and that can't be fixed on the user's side. The other causes are covered in the article why a VPN isn't working.
A separate case is when the VPN has connected but TikTok still doesn't show new videos. That is no longer about TikVPN: the developer admits in its own description that TikTok determines the region by the SIM card, not only by the IP address. A separate article about VPN for TikTok is devoted to this question.
We recommend BessyConnect to those who care about knowing how a service is built and not just about pressing a button. The protocol is named outright: VLESS with Reality camouflage, where the traffic looks like an ordinary HTTPS connection. There are more than a hundred servers, no logs are kept, registration is not required, and there is a trial period.
Where TikVPN is stronger, we'll say honestly. It has a free plan with ads, a client for Windows and a version for Fire TV. BessyConnect has no app for Windows.
| TikVPN | BessyConnect | |
|---|---|---|
| Protocol | Proprietary, not disclosed | VLESS with Reality camouflage |
| Free access | Plan with ads | Trial period |
| Registration | An email account for some features | Not required |
| Windows | Claimed on the site | No |
| TV | TV version on Google Play, Fire TV | Android TV, Apple TV |
BessyConnect apps:
What BessyConnect and any other VPN don't solve. A TikTok region tied to the SIM card isn't changed by changing the IP address. When mobile internet is switched off under whitelists, a VPN as a rule doesn't help. And BessyConnect isn't in the Russian App Store, just like TikVPN: to install it on an iPhone you need an Apple ID from another country.
If TikVPN connects for you and the ads don't bother you, there is no reason to change it. But if it has stopped working or you are uneasy about geolocation being passed to ad networks, try BessyConnect: all versions are gathered on the download page.
Are Tik VPN and a VPN for TikTok the same thing? No. Tik VPN (TikVPN) is the name of a specific app from Tapcom Technology Limited; it is an ordinary general-purpose VPN service. It isn't connected with the company TikTok.
Is Tik VPN free? You can download it and connect for free, but with ads; judging by the description, some servers are available only by subscription. A VIP subscription in the US App Store costs from $3.99 a week to $47.99 a year (as of October 13, 2026).
Why isn't Tik VPN working in Russia? The exact cause can't be determined from the outside: the service's protocol isn't disclosed. Its rating in the Russian Google Play storefront is 2.5 out of 5, so there are plenty of complaints. Change the server and the network, and update the app.
Can I download Tik VPN on a PC? The tikvpn.com site claims versions for Windows and macOS. Take the installer only from there: third-party builds under the same name haven't been verified by anyone.
How is BessyConnect better than Tik VPN? BessyConnect names its protocol (VLESS with Reality camouflage), keeps no logs and doesn't require registration. At the same time it has no app for Windows, while TikVPN claims one.
