Yes, Roblox works in Russia again without a VPN. Roskomnadzor blocked Roblox on December 3, 2025, and on June 10, 2026 the Ministry of Digital Development confirmed that the restrictions had been lifted: according to the ministry, the platform's owner "fully complied with the requirements of Russian law" (Fontanka, CNews, 10.06.2026). A VPN is now needed in other situations: on a trip to a country where Roblox is closed, when the route to the game's servers is bad, or when an old workaround setup is itself breaking the connection.
It has. Since June 10, 2026 Roblox opens directly from Russian networks, on phones, PCs and consoles. The block lasted exactly six months.
How it happened:
Chat for Russian players has been turned off since the unblocking. When you try to open it, Roblox says that only system messages can be viewed and that chat is unavailable in your region (Meduza, 11.06.2026). This is a condition of the platform's return, not a glitch on your device.
There is no official date for chat to come back. Ekaterina Mizulina, head of the Safe Internet League, told Meduza that in her opinion chat and voice chat will be returned later. According to Androidinsider (article updated 15.07.2026), the restriction is tied to the account's region, not to the IP address, so a VPN does not turn chat on. If a child is playing, disabled chat is more of a plus: unknown adults can't message them.

Roblox determines age from the face (facial age check). Since January 7, 2026 this check is required for chat worldwide, and you can only talk to players in a similar age group. Parents can block individual games, approve games outside the standard catalog and manage a child's messaging until age 16.

Former blocks: Jordan (lifted in December 2025), Kuwait (lifted in November 2025), UAE (Roblox available since 2021). Roblox was not blocked in Kazakhstan: Vice Minister Kochetov said so on December 19, 2025 (Tengrinews).
If you are going to Egypt, Qatar, Oman or Iraq, Roblox won't open over the local internet or hotel Wi-Fi. A VPN restores access, but the country's rules matter here. In Egypt, bypassing blocks sits in a gray area of the 2018 cybercrime law; Qatar and the UAE have strict cybercrime laws; and in Oman, according to secondary sources, personal VPN use has been prohibited since 2010. If Roblox won't load, don't start with a VPN; start with whatever may have been left over from the block.
A VPN doesn't speed up the game by itself. It adds one more leg to the path, so with a normal route ping through a VPN is usually higher. It can only help if your provider sends traffic to the game servers by a roundabout path or the network is congested at peak hours.
